COVID-19 Operating Hours

COVID-19 Operating Hours: Mother Hubbard's Cupboard is committed to continuing to be a reliable resource for the food insecure in the Wilmington area, while keeping clients and volunteers safe and doing our part to slow the spread of any illness in our community. Until further notice, all clients with cars should remain in their vehicles; a MHC volunteer will come get your information and food will be delivered to your car.

Only clients without vehicles will check in outside the 315 Red Cross Door; staying at least 6 feet from each other in the line. Until further notice, Mother Hubbard's Cupboard will be open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm as volunteers are available.

Volunteer Needs: If you are 65 or younger and healthy - We Need You! Please go to the Volunteer Tab and complete the volunteer form. THANK YOU!

Empty Bowls 2020!

The March 20, 2020 Empty Bowl Event has been postponed, but PLEASE HOLD ONTO THOSE TICKETS! When things settle down and Wilmington gets back into the swing of things, the 2020 Empty Bowl Committee will reconvene to decide how to move forward. If we are unable to fully reschedule the event for a later date, our goal will be to arrange for ticket holders to have an opportunity to pick out one of the amazingly beautiful bowls our local artisans have donated to our local fight on hunger.

We are so grateful to those potters, our 2020 sponsors, the restaurants who committed to donating delicious soups, First Baptist Activity Center, our local ticket seller locations and all who had already purchased tickets. We anticipate the need for emergency food, hot meals and shelter will increase over the next few weeks and that the logistics of providing these basic human needs will become exponentially more difficult; the money already raised for the 2020 Empty Bowl Event will have an even greater impact than in past years. You can still help by purchasing remaining tickets or donating online at http://www.motherhubbardsnc.com/donate.

Updated information about the 2020 Empty Bowls Event will be posted on emptybowlsilm.org and the Empty Bowls Wilmington Facebook page.

What We Do...

Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard serves those who are hungry in the Wilmington area through distribution of emergency food. This service is provided by volunteers in partnership with the community, without regard to race or religion and with care to preserve the dignity of the individuals being served.

Once a month, any needy individual or family may come to Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard to receive a 3-5 day supply of groceries. People without stoves receive a smaller bag and are served weekly. Those requesting food are asked to self-declare their need.

As an all-volunteer organization, we are grateful for the support of groups and individuals in the community. View our wish list here. Donations of non-perishable food, money, and volunteer time are greatly appreciated.
